The Postcard Project

This project was my first project of second year, and I had so much fun with it.
I wanted to link music to my illustrations, so I had the idea to overlay them over album covers.

I originally started by designing a range of different ideas and sketches, which I liked all of, but I ended up really liking a pair of hands I drew.
Trying to keep with the theme I had created myself, I then drew multiple different hands in different ways.
My idea was that the hands were imitating those that would be held up during a concert or show.
I scanned and imported my illustrations into photoshop, and then overlayed them onto album covers I found on pinterest.
I edited the insides of the hands so that the album would be visible through them, but they still wouldn't lose any definition.
Then, after printing them out onto cards, I scanned a few again, and experimented with photocopying and colour changing through that.
I also tried printing one on top of the other, which in my opinion, worked out really well.

My original pencil illustrations.

These three below are scanned outcomes after photocopying and experimenting.

A few of the digital versions (before photocopying and edits).
